Performance Metric Glossary
Your team's ranking depends on understanding the statistical categories that define real hockey matches.
While standard fans focus only on goals, a skilled fantasy manager looks at secondary metrics that reveal an
athlete's total influence on the ice.
Goals (G) & Assists (A): The primary metrics of offensive efficiency. Primary and
secondary assists are rewarded equally.
Shots on Goal (SOG): Indicates offensive intent and volume, ensuring players who create
scoring chances are rewarded even if the goaltender makes the save.
Blocked Shots (BLK): A key metric for defensive defensemen, representing selflessness and
defensive strategy.
Plus/Minus (+/-): Reflects team dynamics, calculated as the difference between
even-strength goals scored and allowed while the player is on the ice.
Saves (SV) & Goals Against (GA): The core indicators for goalies. A heavy workload can be
beneficial if the goalie maintains a high save percentage.
Shutouts (SO): The ultimate goaltending performance award. Earns a major points bonus.
